Heritage in the Municipality. Knowing is participating. Educational offer for the year 2020/2021
HERITAGE IN THE MUNICIPALITY. KNOWING IS PARTICIPATING is the educational program of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage dedicated to students (young and old) and teachers, to learn about the extraordinary cultural heritage of the city of Rome, which includes one of the largest and most stratified UNESCO sites in the world.
PARTICIPATE EVEN AT ... DISTANCE
A special program of meetings in virtual classrooms to participate, even remotely, in the didactic activities of the Capitoline Superintendence specially designed when "proximity" is not immediately practicable. PAD - HERITAGE AT A DISTANCE is the novelty of this year to support the restart of the school. A program of remote activities to be carried out in virtual classrooms offered by the Capitoline Superintendence to be alongside teachers and students as usual. Several topics are proposed: a series dedicated to How people lived in ancient Rome, in the Rome of the sixteenth century or in the Neanderthal period; a cycle on the theme of Travel, flows, migrations, which offers, among other things, an in-depth study on the theme of the Grand Tour and a reflection on the safety of travelers in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries that brings us closer to the time of health emergency we are experiencing; integrated itineraries on Napoleon on the occasion of the bicentenary of his death and on the Neoclassical; special projects on education in the archaeological, modern and green heritage. There will also be a series of appointments on scientific topics that will involve children on topics related to astronomy and zoology. All activities are also designed as an aid for the teacher for the purposes of integrated teaching.
Together in museums and in the city
Pursuant to the DPCM of October 13th 2020, face-to-face teaching activities are currently suspended
Itineraries in the Museums
Guided meetings, diversified from each other, carried out in an interactive way, with the aim of making people know the masterpieces and the archaeological, historical-artistic and naturalistic collections of the civic heritage. An opportunity to engage in a dialogue with the history of the city and to stimulate moments of reflection and discussion on many aspects of the natural world and historical memory.
Rome Spread Museum
Itineraries to discover the ancient city, the modern city, the noble villas, the gardens and public walks to learn how to look at and "read" the heritage even in everyday life. The aim is to foster awareness of heritage as a shared asset, to be protected together.
Knowing through "doing"
Workshops to learn and experience knowledge through manual creation and play. Diversified initiatives also dedicated to the world of science to question natural phenomena and build scientific skills and abilities.
Observe, understand, communicate through art
Reading of works in five museums (Capitoline Museums, Museum of Rome, Napoleonic Museum, Museum of the Roman Republic and Garibaldi Memory, Gallery of Modern Art): three questions to learn how to look and then describe what the eye sees.
An open book on history
Itineraries and narrations made with the children to discover together the transformations of history through impressive testimonies and small signs. In tune with the topics addressed in class, the city becomes a book of images to "browse", in which to trace the different moments of history: "Ancient Rome", "Medieval Rome", "Modern Rome", "Rome in the 19th century "And" Rome in the 1900s".
Beyond the limit. The schools for the Walls of Rome
The project, through the involvement of schools, intends to promote knowledge of the Urban Walls, one of the symbolic monuments of the city. The Wall, designed by the emperor Aurelian in 270-275 AD, was the protagonist of the defense of Rome for about one thousand seven hundred years. By physically and virtually embracing the historic city, the Walls represent a privileged observatory to understand urban transformations, but also the infinite stories that gravitate around its curtains.
Between places and maps
An integrated itinerary between the territory and the Capitoline Archives to get closer to the history of the city and archive research.
Save (and) look at the Heritage
Visits to the most significant places in the city to develop participation and care for our extraordinary cultural and environmental heritage. An initiative that unites Superintendence and school to educate together with sharing and safeguarding heritage.
The Exhibitions. To learn more and not only ...
Visits to the main exhibitions set up in the Civic Museums. Workshops for children and families led by artists and curators.
HERITAGE IN THE MUNICIPALITY also offers the “Educating for exhibitions, Educating for the city” project, now in its tenth edition and programmed with remote meetings on the Google Suite platform. Museum directors, curators, scholars and university professors will propose from November 2020 to May 2021, experiences and analyses, in a program that mixes and integrates humanistic and scientific knowledge, to be translated into educational and cultural growth paths, mainly dedicated to university teachers and students. “Educating for exhibitions, Educating for the city” is characterised as a 'workshop' for the training of teachers, university students and citizens. The program is valid for the training and updating of school staff on the S.O.F.I.A. of the MIUR. It also gives the right to the recognition of credits in the context of some degree courses of the main universities and academies of Rome.
